How Long Should it Take to Make An Online Business Profitable?

Hi, my name is Matt Edmundson and today I am answering the question ‘how long should it take to make an online business profitable?’

This is a really important question especially if you are just starting out in eCommerce.

For an eCommerce business, my preference is 3-6 months. You should be making money quickly, but I do understand that you may first need to buy stock and also factor in time taken and resources given to work on the business. If after 6 months the business hasn’t made a profit then I’d be starting to ask questions like is this business worth carrying on?
