How to Generate Traffic for a Niche, Small Business

In this video, I review www.3signs.co.uk

This website reached out and asked for help in order to generate more traffic to their website.

There are 2 options for you, when it comes to getting traffic to your website:

OPTION 1

You can rely on organic or direct traffic, spread the word using traditional flyers and free social media updates.

You can also write blogs and record videos answering your most common customer questions and then these will boost your organic ranking on Google - which means you will appear on page 1 of Google without having to pay for that privilege.

However, for a startup or a niche business, organic traffic isn’t easy.

OPTION 2

You can pay for traffic on Google or Facebook. To do this, you need to first make sure your buying experience is brilliant. There’s no point in paying money to send people to a bad landing page on which you know they won’t checkout.

For 3 signs, I recommend you look at doing online quotes like your competitors are doing, this way the money you pay for traffic will not be wasted because you know that you will get an email address or an order when a prospect comes to your website. I also recommend that you target businesses that need signs for their office or workplace.

You might want to try Facebook advertising which is interest-focused, rather than Google which relies on people that are already searching for signs. If I was searching for a sign, I might be tempted to go straight to Amazon - so look to catch people off guard and focus on all of the benefits that customers can receive when shopping with you.

In order to get a bigger budget for paid advertising, upsell your customers at the checkout. Is there a smaller product that people could easily add to basket?

CONCLUSION

For 3 Signs, I think you need to focus on your website before you send any more paid traffic to it. Make it possible for customers to get online quotes. Make the whole experience simple, clear and non-cluttered. Then, when you are satisfied that you have a no-brainer site, run paid traffic from Facebook to business owners near you to begin with. Test your ads and give yourself a bigger budget with add-ons and up-sells at the checkout.
